After an exciting 2007 season culminating in the first home final in 15 years, Team USA kicked off their 2008 Davis Cup quest with a 4-1 win over Austria in February and a 4-1 win over France in April. With momentum building, the USA will face Spain on a red clay surface at the Plaza de Toros Las Ventas in Madrid at the 2008 semifinals.
With Eight head to head Davis Cups behind these two teams, culminating in five Team USA wins, Team USA last played in Spain at the 2004 Davis Cup Final, which was won by the home team in Seville. In the four times the two teams have faced each other on clay, Spain has won three. With great players on both sides, it promises to be an exhilarating weekend in September.
